Be it a product of laziness or intoxicated ingenuity, I was
inspired to build a robotic bartender to star at all those college
parties. My first functioning prototype was a barebones hack
consisting of an electric linear actuator, a DC power supply,
6 mason jars with accompanying peristaltic pumps, and a basic
Arduino control circuit. From there, I explored ways of cleaning
up and optimizing the design, which are still in the CAD model
phase (see left).
Lately, I joined up with several other Princeton undergrads to
attempt to expand this into a commercially viable model, capable
of competing with existing automated bartending devices like
Monsieur, Somabar, or Makr Shakr. We are FountainFive, and are
currently operating within Princeton University's Keller Center
Entrepreneural Startup
Incubator. We're working on
spreading the word to assess the market, and as always, perfecting
the design.
